SOAR: Discover the Impact of Safpaw Outreach Animal Rescue

What they do
SOAR is a foster-based rescue and outreach group focused on “shelter diversion”—helping pets who are at risk of entering shelters (through no fault of their own) find safety, care, and permanent homes. Their mission emphasizes education, support, outreach, and adoption to ease pressure on Middle Tennessee’s overburdened shelter system.

How they started & who they serve
SOAR’s early intake (around 2020) primarily came via partner group SAFPAW. As they grew (2021–22), they began assisting Metro Nashville Animal Care & Control and now collaborate with six shelters, including rural and underfunded agencies, plus local animal control for trapping and securing strays.

Adoption & care
Adoption fees cover core veterinary work (exam, vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter), heartworm testing/preventive when applicable, and support during any foster-to-adopt trial (crate, food, harness, leash, toys). Posted fees (as of 2024) range from $325 for puppies and $275 for adult dogs to $200 for senior/medical dogs; cats range from $175 (kittens) to $125 (adults) and $75 (senior/medical).

Ways to help
You can adopt (dogs or cats), foster, volunteer, or donate; SOAR lists adoptable pets and outlines the process on their site - https://soarnash.org/donate
